The Central States Numismatic Society, founded in 1939, is one of the larger numismatic organizations in the United States with membership fluctuating around 2,000. CSNS, as it is known informally, operates in a 13 state Midwestern region but membership is open to residents of all states and foreign countries.

States in the region are Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

History of the Central States Numismatic Society

"History Of The Central States Numismatic Society" To be released at 75th Anniversary Convention. Ray Lockwood, CSNS Education Director, has written a book which traces the history of CSNS from its founding in 1939 to the present. The illustrated book will be distributed at the april 23-26 Convention In Schaumburg, Il. Cost is $6.00 in soft-cover and $30.00 in hard cover. (Hard Cover SOLD OUT) 500 soft and 50 hard covers were printed. Orders are now being accepted by Ray Lockwood at 2075 E. Bocock Road - Marion, In 46952. CSNS Doubles Publication Grants

"Grants for Authors Doubled" The CSNS Board in its April meeting voted to double the amount of money available to authors who wish to research, write and publish numismatic books. Beginning July 1 of this year, $40,000 will be available to prospective authors. Grants of up to $5,000 may be applied for.
